Natalie Ruth Real Estate Relocation Moving Tips

1. Remove Unwanted Items and Declutter

As soon as you know that you are thinking about moving, start to remove unwanted items from your home. Donate or throw them away as soon as possible. That box in the garage that you have been meaning to take to your neighbor, go and take it now! Be aware of your time. Time will move quickly and you don't want to move that trash do you?!

2. Put items away or at least in the room/spot you want them at your new place

Unpacking boxes can move quickly if everything in the box goes in the location where the box is opened. Pack like items with like, and try not to fill boxes with items from multiple rooms. For example, bathroom items, kitchen items, or even more specifically sharp kitchen items, master bedroom end table.

3. Pack a “Welcome Home Box”

This box needs to be the first box out, so it needs to be the last box loaded. What's in the box???

TOILET PAPER, paper towel roll, garbage bags, hand soap, dish soap, dish scrubber, paper plates, plastic ware, box cutter, tape, marker, pad of paper, pen, working apron with pockets, and any other item you will need within the first hour of arriving to your new location to start working.
